Organizing Your Pantry

When organizing your kitchen many people likely don't think about using storage totes to create a pantry storage system, but it can be a great way to declutter your cooking space and find exactly what you need in your pantry quickly. Whether you have to buy more storage bins or you have some extras around the house, organizing your pantry is easy with some shelves, bins and, of course, all of your kitchen utensils and snacks!

First, you'll have to place the shelving racks in place with screws. This will be the base for your storage options and will help create extra space for things that don't fit in your plastic drawers. After screwing in the shelf holders you can use either pieces that came with the holders or make your own shelves out of wood to create the exact style and look you're going for in your pantry.

Next, you'll have to move onto the storage bin sections. There are options in this step, depending on what type of storage you want. One approach is to have cutouts in a premade organizer that you can place bins in that pull out whenever you need to access the contents inside. Another approach, however, is that you can purchase bins that fit onto a sliding system that work similarly to desk drawers to make an easy in and out functionality for the bins in your pantry. This step is, again, very up to personal preference and however you want your pantry to work should guide your approach.

After all of the storage sections have been placed, it's time to move in all of your extra utensils and snacks to the pantry to find everything its own place. We recommend placing the least used items on the top shelves since you will access them less than other things and obviously many of your smaller items will stay within the storage bin drawers. Now your pantry should be organized to your liking and all you have to worry about is the cooking!

Building a Survival Kit

Typically in Midwest states like Ohio, we think of building a survival kit to have during warmer weather months because of the threat of tornadoes and floods. We tend to forget that it is also important to have in the winter when blizzards or ice storms can wreak havoc. Power can be knocked out for days, and travel can be treacherous. This year has been a quite mild winter, but weather can change quickly, so it is still important to be prepared. 38 Quart Heavy Duty Storage Container First, have a container or two that is easily carried to put your supplies in. A plastic storage tote like the one pictured here is the perfect type to use. It has secure latches to keep the container closed and mostly air and watertight. Get that Garage Clean!

Garages are a place to park your car...or they are a place to dump your junk. There is usually very little middle ground. What a garage should be is useful! So how do you get to be the place that you want it to be? Organization, of course! It can be a scary word, but it does not have to be! Getting your garage in order is something that will pay dividends in the the warmer weather months because everything will be easily accessible for your outside work! So let's get started! 1. Tools Do you have a toolbox? That sounds like a silly question, but it is a thing many people do not have. If you are a homeowner (or even a renter), it's time to have a stocked toolbox. You don't have to have tons of tools, but having a set of regular screwdrivers, a few wrenches, a hammer, and a set of hex tools (yes, those are handy to have!) and you will be set. Keep them in your toolbox. You don't have to have one of those giant toolboxes that roll around, but one that you can easily mov
